NEW GLASGOW – The fracking debate continued April 23 in New Glasgow.

Premier Tim Houston says Nova Scotia is moving aggressively to explore onshore natural gas development, arguing the province needs to capitalize on its natural resources as it faces mounting fiscal pressures and rising energy costs.

The comments came Monday, as Dalhousie University announced a second call for participation in the province’s Subsurface Energy Research and Development Investment Program, an initiative studying Nova Scotia’s onshore gas potential.
